  • Remember...on 10/4/2007, Guiliani was at 28%, Thompson was at 21%, McCain - 14%, Romney - 10%. Why the current polls may make for interesting conversation, they mean absolutely nothing. Perry, Bachmann, et all will all be on the outside looking in when Romney's name is on the top of the ticket.

  • Exactly, Burgh. Back in the day, it was cheap and easy to get to a game...and few actually did. Now it's unbelievably expensive and a serious pain in the ass, and virtually every stadium is full. The fans have allowed themselves to be manipulated by clever marketing.

  • Back in the 60's, and even as late as the early 70's, you could go to a baseball/football game for under $5 (Yankee Stadium bleacher seats were 50 cents; MLB average ticket price in 1972 was $2.95) and watch players who made slightly more money than you did (MLB average in 1972 was $34k).

  • You could name a brand "If You Smoke This You Will Die!" and people will still smoke, albeit in smaller numbers, which is obviously the goal. The sad truth is that we have no replaced smoking with obesity. A much "larger" issue, in my view.
